What’s it all about?

After a night of strong rain, the Shallots set sail on a seafaring adventure.

This is the episode where:

• It’s a rainy day and Sarah & Duck are out in the garden jumping up and down in puddles

• The Shallot’s mud patch is getting waterlogged – so Duck gives them his tiny toy boats to sit in

• It rains all night, and the next day the garden has flooded. Sarah & Duck realise that the Shallots have floated away in the toy boats!

• Sarah & Duck go looking or them, using Umbrella as a boat and a big spoon as a paddle. Sarah uses her periscope to look around.

• The Shallots have run aground on the see-saw in the back garden, so they rescue them and take them back inside

• Once all of the rain has drained away, Sarah places the Shallots safely back home in their mud patch, which is now nice and dry!

This is what we learn...

  • It’s fun to jump in puddles when it’s raining
  • Something becomes ‘waterlogged’ when it is completely soaked and full of water
  • After very heavy rain, things can get flooded – just like Sarah & Duck’s garden
  • If something “runs aground” it means its got stuck in very shallow water and can’t float any more
  • Toy boats can float, and so can upside down umbrellas!
