Park Trimming
Season 3 – Episode 36
What’s it all about?
Sarah & Duck spot a patch of garden in the park that needs some care, but can’t seem to find a gardener.
This is the episode where:
• Sarah is showing Duck how to do a roly-poly in a straight line at the park
• Duck rolls towards a small flower bed that looks a bit overgrown and uncared for, so they decide to search for a gardener to help
• Scooter Boy shows them a gardener’s tool shed. They knock but there’s no answer.
• Sarah thinks that the gardener must be shy because Sarah & Duck are not flowers – so they pretend to be flowers by standing in some flower pots
• Just then, some gardening tools come out of the shed, hopping around on their own without a gardener – Sarah & Duck quietly watch them as they do some gardening around the park
• Sarah decides to show them the sad looking flower bed, but the tools won’t go near the flower bed because there’s a sign that looks like it says “please keep off the patch”
• Sarah points out that it’s a sign for no shoes. The tools don’t have any shoes, they get to work and – with some help from Sarah & Duck – make the flower bed look nice again.
This is what we learn...
- A roly-poly is another name for a forward roll
- Flower beds need to be looked after so that they keep looking nice
- Parks often have a gardener who tends to all the flowers and plants
- A gardener uses lots of tools, like a wheelbarrow, watering can, rake, trowels and secateurs
- It’s good to give things care and attention if they look like they’ve been neglected
