What’s it all about?

Rainbow gets to experience the night for the first time.

This is the episode where:

• Sarah & Duck decide to search the night sky for a new constellation, the ‘Snoozing Snail’

• They look through their telescope and find Moon, but they can’t see the stars very well because it’s raining

• Sarah is disappointed, but then she spots Rainbow. Moon’s glow and the rain made a rare lunar rainbow – a Moonbow!

• Rainbow is fast asleep and snoring very loudly – Sarah decides they should wake him up to tell him

• Rainbow is confused – he’s not used to being awake at night time!

• With some help from Moon, Mars & Venus, Sarah & Duck show Rainbow him how fun nighttime can be

• When the rain stops, they all look at the stars together before Rainbow has to go!

This is what we learn...

  • Constellations are groups of stars that look like patterns in the night sky – they are often named after animals, people or objects
  • Telescopes help us see the stars in the night sky more clearly
  • It’s more difficult to see stars when it’s raining
  • If the moon’s glow meets water droplets from the rain, it can create a lunar rainbow – also known as a ‘Moonbow’
  • It’s fun to try new things, even if they might seem confusing at first
