What’s it all about?

Sarah & Duck are so keen to visit the Art Shop, but they get there too early and have to find things to keep themselves entertained.

This is the episode where

• Sarah & Duck are looking at the new Art Shop catalogue, excited about what new art supplies they can get

• They are so excited to get their new art supplies that they go straight to bed to make the morning come quicker. When they arrive at the Art Shop the next morning, it’s still closed because it is too early!

• While they wait for the shop to open, they go to the park and Sarah sees that everything is sparkly thanks to the morning dew

• They return to the Art Shop, but it’s still closed. They blow on the glass windows – making steam so that they can draw pictures. Sarah draws Duck with her fingers and Duck tries to draw Sarah – but it’s quite hard drawing with his beak!

• Moon comes down to join in the drawing, helping turn Duck’s next squiggle drawing into a resting rhino.

• The store finally opens and Sarah gets the glow-in-the-dark pencils they saw in the catalogue – but she can’t see the drawings because it’s too light. Duck chooses a dinosaur shaped pencil sharpener.

• Sarah draws lots of pictures with her glow-in-the-dark pencils. She puts them up all over her bedroom – but it just looks like blank paper.

• When the lights are turned off all the drawings glow – Sarah has drawn a great big dinosaur scene! It’s a prehistoric triumph!

This is what we learn...

  • Art Shops sell all sorts of supplies – like pencils, paper, rulers, pencil sharpeners and more
  • Sometimes you have to find new things to do while you wait for other things to be ready
  • Dew is the little water droplets that we see on leaves, grass and other things outside when the air is cold
  • If you breathe onto cold glass, the warm moisture of your breath makes the glass misty – perfect for finger drawings!
  • Glow-in-the-dark ink can’t be seen in the daylight
